Surprise, surprise!

This last Friday I came home from college. I kept it quiet in order to surprise my friends, and boy did I surprise them. With the help of another friend I showed up Friday night at their weekly get together. The three of them were sitting on the living room floor with their backs to the doorway. I snuck up behind them and sat down between the two I was trying surprise and put my arms around their shoulders casually. They were still waiting for a friend to come so at first they thought I was her. Both looked at me and it took about five seconds for them to register who I was. Their eyes grew wide and then they screamed and freaked out. It was hilarious and made the month of barely being able to keep it secret that I was coming home worth it. Very satisfying.

Apples

As with the stereotype of college life, I have experimented with my dinners. Sometimes this flops and I get burnt rice or a hamburger that refuses to stay together as a patty. But then sometimes I stumble across something fantastic. The other day I tried to be creative while using up some food I needed to get rid of. It sounds strange, but it was one of the best things I've ever tasted. It was BBQ sauce, Chicken breasts, yellow onion, and apple slices. I forget what kind of apple, one of the sweet red ones like a Fuji or something. It was the perfect mix. The apples were actually the best part, I wish I had used more. When I eventually go home I'm going to make it for my family and see what they think.

Adventures in Joanns

So yesterday my mom and I went hunting for fabric for a skirt. My little sister has grown a lot in the last few months and almost none of her clothes fit, so mom was going to make her a few skirts. While she looked at patterns she would send me out to find fabric. Here's how the conversation went.
"How about this one?"
"No."
"This cute purple one?"
"Mm.... nope. It doesn't look like her."
"This one?"
"No."
New stack of fabric.
"This one?"
"No."
"This one?"
"NO!"
New stack of fabric.
"ANY OF THESE?!"
"Hm..... they don't quite work."
"I GIVE UP!"
It was an interesting few hours. At first I was frustrated, but by the end we were both laughing about it. Lets just say, my mom and I have very different tastes in fabric, at least when it comes to buying for my little sister.

My bedroom barfed

I know, I know, I posted yesterday. But this is too dramatic to not share. Last night after I got home from my friends house I went to put some of my clothes away. (Wow, nice story there *eye rolling.) Well, when I walked on the carpet by my dresser.... it squished. It took me a moment of disbelief to realize what it was. There was water leaking into my bedroom.
I frantically ran up to my parents who were just settling down for bed and shared the awful news. We moved my bed away from the water, got everything off the floor (I had no idea I had that much stuff on the floor) and I slept on the couch.
We tried calling lots of plumbers, but no one was avaliable. That makes sense as sad as it was, seeing as how it was past midnight at this point. So, I slept on the couch.
A very nice neighbor and his son are downstairs helping my parents rip up the carpet and who knows what else.
So yes, my bedroom is puked all over the family room.
Oh the joys of having a basement.

Something cool I said

So it's kinda windy today, and when a few friends and I walked out of the school for lunch our hair was blowing around. when we faced into the wind our hair blew back in a very dramatic matter and I couldn't resist the moment. Here is what I said, to a certain degree.
"oh, look. Now we all have sexy hair!"
We all found it terribly funny. My friends insisted that I posted this. Think about it, that's exactly what photographers do to celebs. They stick them in front of a big fan and have them make smolders. ("you broke my smolder!" What movie is that? only the best movie ever (aka Tangled)).
Being a teenager is so much fun. Just saying.

Dramatic Entrance.... sort of

So yesterday I gave blood. I think its a wonderful thing to do. It makes a difference in a small way compared to the world, but a big difference to one person and their family. And in my mind, its the individuals who count.
Ok, so back from my blood rant. (I promise, I'm not a vampire. Promise.) Apparently my blood pumps really slow. Like really slow. It took me 14 minutes. Yikes. That's a long time to sit there with a needle stuck in your arm. By the time they filled up the little test tubes my arm was freezing and starting to look purple. I tried to not freak out. I succeeded.
I felt fine..ish for the rest of the school day. Tired and cold, but not terribly sick. Until about the last 45 minutes of school, then I started to feel awful. So I went straight to bed after school and stayed their until dinner.
So here's how it happened: My little sister Jenna came downstairs and told me it was time to eat. I slowly climbed out of bed and went up the stairs. Standing in the kitchen I decided it was time the little red bandage/gauze thing came off, it was driving me insane. So I took it off. They gave me a little alcohol patch to clean off the iodine underneath the gauze and I started having serious issues opening the package. I ripped it open but I couldn't actually open it. I was feeling really dizzy and it kept getting worse, so I said so and leaned against a near by wall.
The next thing I know my mom is helping me roll over and saying "No she is not alright!".
I was very disoriented for what felt like a long time. I ended up crying and all my other siblings sat at the table in mute, frozen horror.
Needless to say, I did not feel very good.
I skipped school today. I was still so pale that the first thing Mom said when I came upstairs for breakfast was "You are NOT going to school today". I'm never going to argue against a statement like that, so I didn't say anything. I was really pale. I looked half dead, and felt it too.
Luckily this story has a happy ending. I feel perfectly fine now. Ta da! It's amazing how quickly the body can heal itself.
Now that I have experienced fainting I NEVER want to do it again. I wouldn't recommend it, as romantic as it might sound to some. Its stinkin' scary when you wake up.
To say the least, it was a dramatic night.

Stormy night

Last night was very stormy. Strong, fast winds, rain, and I think hail. It woke me up actually. In my fuzzy sleep-deprived mind I wondered what would happen if my window blew in. At first I thought I would run out of the room and shut the door. But, wait, I realized all my things would be ruined. I love my books too much for that. So I imagined myself holding my blankets up against he broken window for the rest of the night. Strange thoughts, I know. This was running through my head at 2 in the morning.
I had just started to fall asleep again when a friend texted me. He was letting me know that he wouldn't be going to seminary the next morning (we carpool) because of the late night. I was annoyed and looked at my clock (don't ask me why.) my clock was dead. The power was out. So I set my phone alarm.
Five in the morning another friend texts and asks if my power is back on yet. I don't reply. I'm trying to SLEEP!!!!!! It's not working so well.
5:45 (my normal wake up time) I get into the shower and text her back. Yes my power is on, yes it is flickering. As I am blow drying my hair ANOTHER person texts me, saying that school is canceled. I run up stairs to the computer to see if this is true. Rumors and all. I open the laptop. Lights go off. Darn.
I sit around for a while, hoping its only a flicker and they will turn back on. Nope, they stay off. I text a few friends to see if they know if we have school. The only place I have service is on the fourth step of my stairs. No idea why. I get the no school confirmed and thankfully crawl back into bed.
6:30. I get text after text telling me school is out. Yeah. yipee. Who hoo. NOW LET ME SLEEP!!!!!
I eventually slept in until 9.
Oh the joy of texting.
Moral of the story: this is EXACTLY why I normally turn my phone off at night.

HAHAHA!!!

We got pranked back. Well, Katelyn did anyways. While we were on our way to a goodbye party for another friend the boys came and silly stringed her bedroom. I can't wait to get back at them. We have two weeks of school left, and neither of them is a full week. There are SEVEN days of school left. I'm soooo excited. I start work on the 11th. I'm not really excited, but I'm ready to have money again.

PRANK WAR!!!

So a few of my friends have been planning this prank war with me to start with some of our other friends. They accidentally started it by stuffing Katelyn's locker with paper balls. So, today during seminary we decorated two of their cars like they had just gotten married. Oreo's, paint, cans, the whole deal. They even had their cars unlocked so we toilet-papered the inside of their cars. It was amazing. Picts of facebook!!!! The guys we pranked have been trying to get into our lockers, but can't figure out the combination. It figures, seeing as how they are designed to stop people from breaking in. It's so much fun. :)

Busyness

The busy end of the year-ness has begun. The dance my friends and I put together was this weekend. It was a total success, there were lots of people there and we received lots of compliments on the decorations. I am glad it's over, it was a lot of work. Almost every slow dance I asked a guy from Lewiston to dance and I met some really cool guys. It's too bad that I was doing all the asking though, I would have preferred to have them ask. The last weekend was as priest and laurel activity in Spokane. That was so much fun, there were lots of cute guys ;). None of them really asked to dance through. I did get asked to prom at the dance though.
Katelyn and I went up to get some of our guy friends from the stake to ask girls. We were kinda teasing them and harassing them to get them to dance. Well one of the guys holds up his phone to me. Its the kind that flips open and he had it open sitting in his palm. I didn't even look at it I just took it and said that he wouldn't get it back until he asked a girl to dance. Then I walked away. I came back a little bit later when I saw that he hadn't moved and was still talking to Katelyn. I started bugging him again and he told me, sounding slightly exasperated, to open his phone. I was confused but I did and what do you know, his wallpaper was a rose with "Will you go to prom with me?". I was embarrassed and we all started laughing. Of course I said yes.
All the Laurels in our ward got asked. I have to say I was surprised to get asked, I had never really thought I would get asked. I just never thought about it much really. But yeah I have a gorgeous dress and really cute shoes. The Prom is May 1st, this upcoming weekend. The weekend after is my AP test to see if I get college credit, then the weekend after I have a meeting to start training for my summer job doing concessions at the pool. The busyness never seems to end!

Picture of Mom

Ok so I was looking through our pictures and found this old picture of Mom. She's probably sent it to a lot of people, but I couldn't resist putting it on her. Its just like her.

School Evacuation!!!!

My school was evacuated today during lunch because of a bomb threat. It cut out the end of our lunch and most of our class afterwards. So it was like a really long lunch. Pretty cool. :) I wasn't worried about the threat at all. My guess is it was a senior who had been joking about it earlier, got high and then called. Its about the season for senior pranks anyways. This is just a really dumb and big one for someone to pull. If it was a student that is. The call was from a park near the school. The administration (oooo, big word. lol) told us that is was a male and they have reason to belive a student. I just hope it blows over soon and feel bad for whoever was dumb enough, or messed up enough, to call. The school district is pressing as many charges as it can. So yeah, that was my day. Pretty big thing so I decided to share. Have a good week!!!

Happy V-day!

This week has been lots of fun. The girls b ball team had two district games this week. Sadly they lost the last game and so couldn't go to state, but going to the games was lots of fun. After the game on thursday we all came to my house and played spoons. It was so much fun and even got athletic we were so competitive.
Yesterday we had a ward temple trip and then a dance. It was the first temple trip this school year so I was really excited to go. Annica was feeling sick and so couldn't go. After the temple we went to Old Country Buffet. Not the most amazing place to eat, but its better then not eating at all. A few cars went to the dance and a few home. We were about an hour late to the dance. It was kinda scary. We drove up to the church and there were only two cars. We drove around to the other side of the building hoping there were more cars. Everyone sighed in relief when we saw all the other cars. It was a really fun dance and I met lots of sweet guys. One was really, really sweet. My friends and I were standing twoards the edge of the room and this guy walked up. There were some leaders standing by us so I thought he was a leader going to talk with someone. But then my friends tapped me on the shoulder and it was a guy holding a flower. In a really shy voice he told me it was for me. I was really suprized and flattered. It was so sweet. I hope everyone else had just as amazing of a valentines day as I did!!

Its been a while since I've written. Softball has kept me really busy. We aren't the best team. We've won only one game and the seasons almost over. But hey, we are improving a lot. Friday at practice someone accidentally hit me in the leg with a softball. It hurt really bad, and now I have a big purple bruise on my leg. OUCH!!!
Jenna got babtised this Saturday. And I went on a youth temple trip that day too. So I had a spiritual high yesterday. It was really nice. I really needed that temple trip. My life is really stressfull right now. I'm home practically only to eat breakfast, do homework and sleep. LOTS of fun (sarcastic voice). I'm kinda ready for softball season to be over so I'm not so tired and I can actually see my family. I have even started dreaming softball. Not cool. I love the sport, but I do NOT want it taking over my life. At least the seasons close to the end.
I am very excited about my grades right now though. I have a 4.0 for the first time since 6th grade. I've always had at least one B instead of all A's. Usually its math. I hope to keep it that way. It shouldn't be too hard seeing its the last quarter before summer!
Ohhhh, I can't wait for summer! Its all I can think about. I'm going to EFY with my friends from Colorado. I'm meeting them in Las Vegas, spending a few days with them then going to SLC on the same plane w/ them. I can't wait!! I just need to get some summer clothes, including a swimsuit. I've probably outgrown all my capris and I didn't have that many shirts at the end of last summer that fit me. I should probably do that while there's still good stuff in the stores....
